Raiders Split with #5 Red Devils

The Pierce Raiders took on the #5 ranked Lower Columbia Red Devils for their first meeting this season. Lower Columbia took game one by a score of 7-2, but the Raiders were able to keep the lead in game two, defeating the Devils by a score of 2-1.

In game one, Lower Columbia stacked up six runs in the top of the third inning on a series of errors and hits. The Raiders answered back in the bottom of the eighth inning when Jeb English hit a triple, scoring Kyle Larson from second base. English then scored on a wild pitch, bringing the score to 6-2. The Devils were able to tack on one more run in the top of the ninth for a final score of 7-2. The Raiders were held to just four hits in the game with English, Kedren Kinzie, Joe Scheffler, and Kyle Larson each producing one.

Kyle Larsen pitched a total of six innings in the game, giving up four hits, and striking out three. Eli Marquart entered the game for 1.2 innings, facing nine batters. Marquart struck out two, without giving up any hits or runs. Hwiseo Kim finished the game for Pierce, pitching 1.1 innings and striking out two.

The Raiders were able to turn it around in game two, defeating the Red Devils by a score of 2-1. A  stellar pitching performance by Andrew Moberly held the Red Devils to only two hits in the seven inning game. Moberly faced 31 batters, striking out five and held Lower Columbia scoreless through the top of the sixth inning.

The Raiders were able to score first in the bottom of the third inning off of a wild pitch, and then added another run in the bottom of the sixth when Joe Scheffler doubled, scoring Kedren Kinzie. Cameron Hale led the Raiders on offense with two hits in the game, while Kinzie, Scheffler, Kadin Kingsbury, and Ayden Vega each had one hit.
