Men’s Soccer loses on the road to Peninsula (9/10/22)

The Raiders dropped a close one on the road Saturday against NWAC powerhouse Peninsula, 1-0.  The Pirates, who were averaging almost 4 goals per contest coming into the contest, were held to their lowest score of the season.  The Raiders were without the services of starting goalkeeper, Gavin Forman.  So, sophomore forward, and back-up keeper, Donovan Small (Graham Kapowsin HS), stepped up and led the outstanding performance of the Raiders' defense.  Small recorded 10 saves on the afternoon.  Peninsula's lone goal was scored in the 25th minute of the match.  The Raiders' offense struggled against one of the top defenses in the NWAC, and only managed two shots on goal.

"I was incredibly proud of the effort the boys put out today," commented Raiders Head Coach, Steve Aguilar.  "Peninsula has been one of the top programs in the NWAC for many years.  It was great to see our team come together and compete as well as we did.  It's a huge step for the team, moving forward."

The loss drops the Raiders' record to 0-5-0 in West Region play, -0-8-0 overall.  The Raiders are back in action on Saturday, when they host cross-town rival Tacoma, starting at 2:15 pm, at Heritage Recreation Center.
