Cross Country - another strong performance at John Payne Invitational

Jasmine Davis had her fourth top 10 finish, to lead the Raiders in another strong showing at the John Payne Invitational on Saturday, at Chambers Creek, in University Place. Davis finished in 8th place overall, and was 3rd among NWAC runners. The Raiders had a 6th place overall team finish (152 points), and finished 2nd, behind Spokane CC, among NWAC teams running in the event.

Davis is quickly becoming one of the top individual runners in the NWAC. Her time of 19:16.8 was one of the fastest 5K times in the NWAC for the Fall 2021 season. Davis was followed by Sophia Randall (25th place, 20:48.3), Lauren Sautter (33rd, 21:36.2), Valery Saavedra-Luna (40th, 22:43.6), Elle Lovrak (52nd, 24:00.8), and Jillian Ruiz (57th, 25:06.0). The field of 64 runners represented Northwest University, Alaska-Anchorage University, Saint Martin's, Seattle Pacific, and University of Puget Sound. Other NWAC schools competing were Spokane (5th place, 137 points), Whatcom (8th, 185 points), Olympic (9th, 194 points), and Everett (10th, 223 points). Mt. Hood CC and Green River College had runners competing, but not enough to record a team score.

The event was a preview of the NWAC Championships which will be held at the Chambers Creek course on November 13.
