Raiders Dominate Thunderbirds in First Meeting

The Men’s Basketball team defeated the Highline Thunderbirds in the first conference game of 2023 on Wednesday evening. The Raiders beat the Thunderbirds by a score of 76-60. Pierce now holds an overall record of 9-7, and are 1-0 in West Region play.

Michael Ajayi delivered a team-leading 30 points for the Raiders, as well as added three rebounds, five assists, and two steals. Ajayi shot 75% from the free-throw line, going 12-16. The 2022 West Region MVP also shot 50% from the 3-point line, and 66.7% from the field-goal line, making 8 of his 12 attempts.

Will Green had a solid performance, totaling 13 points for the Raiders. Green also secured four rebounds, and added two assists, and two steals. He shot 50% in both field-goals and 3-pointers.

Tai White and Nymier Brooks each added nine points for Pierce. White grabbed five rebounds, three assist, and one steal. Brooks had four rebounds and one block in the game, white shooting 60% in field-goals and free-throws.

Iv’rson Lavizzo led the team in steals with four and also contributed seven points, three assists, and one rebound.

The Raiders will travel across town on Saturday, January 14th, to take on Tacoma CC at the Titan Gym. Tip-off is set for 4:00pm following the Women’s Basketball game.
