The Pierce Raiders fell to the Green River Gators in Wednesday evening’s game by a score of 71-53. The Raiders had a quiet first quarter being outscored 19-4, but the Women’s Basketball team found their grove and began to answer back to the Gators. The Raiders closed the gap in the remaining three quarters, and managed to outscore the Gators in the third quarter 21-15. In the end, the Raiders were unable to rally enough to take the win. Wednesday's loss moves the Raiders West Region record to 3-2, while marking an overall record of 6-14.
Leslie Luna led the Raiders in points with 14 in the evening contest. Luna added five rebounds, one assist, four steals, and one block. She shot 75% from the free-throw line, making 3-4 baskets.
Kiki Brooks chipped in with 13 points for the Raiders, as well as three steals and one assist. Brooks was on fire from the 3-point line, shooting 75%.
Keshara Romain added 11 points for the Raiders. Romain secured five rebounds and three steals in the game.
Tyra Brown led the Raiders in rebounds, grabbing nine. Brown added seven points, two blocks, and one steal.
The Raiders welcome South Puget Sound to the HEC on Saturday, January 28th. Game time is scheduled for 1:00pm.
