Women’s Soccer dominates in win over Grays Harbor (9/10/22)

The Raiders came into Saturday's contest against Grays Harbor expecting to win.  The team did not disappoint, as they scored early and often, resulting in an 8-0 victory over the Chokers.  Freshman defender, Laila Peterson (Bonney Lake HS), scored the Raiders' first two goals in the 4th and 9th minutes, on her way to a spectacular 4-goal day.  Her final two goals closed out the scoring for the Raiders, in the 78th and 85th minutes.  Ashlyn Kennedy (Bonney Lake HS) and Marissa Young (Buckley HS), each scored two goals.  Kennedy's scores came in the 10th and 75th minutes, and Young's were in the 33rd and 45th minutes.

"The ladies played a solid overall game," said Raiders Head Coach, Marc Russell.  "They did a great job of controlling the pace of play, and keeping Grays Harbor on the defensive side of the ball most of the day."

The Raiders' stingy defense held the Chokers to just one shot on goal for the match.  Freshman goalkeeper, Rylee Kline (Washington HS), recorded her NWAC leading 5th shutout of the season.  The win improved the Raiders to 3-1-0 in league play (5-2-0 overall), and are tied for 2nd place in the West Region standings.  Pierce hosts Lower Columbia this Wednesday, 3:00 pm start time at Heritage Recreation Center.
