Raiders Take Down #6 Green River

The Women’s basketball team took down the #6 ranked Green River Gators on Wednesday, giving the Gators their first West Region loss of the season. Wednesday’s win brings the Raiders West Region record to 3-1, giving them a third-place seating in West Region standings, behind an undefeated Lower Columbia team and Green River who also holds a 3-1 record.

Leslie Luna led the Raiders again on offense scoring a team-leading 20 points in the game. Luna made a go-ahead three point shot with 21 seconds left in the game, her sixth 3-pointer in 12 attempts for a 3pt percentage of 50%. Leslie had six rebounds, one assist, four steals, and one block in the game.

Jordyn Peterson made two big free throws in the final second of the game to add cushion to the Raiders lead. Peterson finished the game with a total of seven points, three rebounds, three assists, two steals, and one blocked shot.

Keshara Romain tallied her 14th double-double of the season, scoring 14 points and 13 rebounds. Romain added four assists, three steals, and one block for the Raiders.

Hollie Haataia provided another eight points for Pierce, as well as 10 rebounds and one assist.

The Raiders will take on the South Puget Sound Clippers on Saturday, January 27th at 1:00pm in Olympia, WA.
