Raiders Fall to Red Devils in Two Walk-Off Wins

The Pierce Raiders traveled to Longview, Washington to take on the Lower Columbia Red Devils on Saturday, April 29th. The Raiders played two very strong games against the Red Devils but ended the day with two losses in dramatic fashion. The Raiders lost game one with a score of 1-2 and game two with a score of 2-3.

Game 1 at Lower Columbia:

The Raiders scored early in game one with a solo homerun off the bat of Kedren Kinzie. Kinzie recorded two hits in the game. Caden Stinson added two hits for the Raiders, and Steven Moore and Richie Reding each tallied one hit. The Red Devils were able to answer back with a run in the bottom of the seventh inning tying the game at one apiece. Lower Columbia managed to score another run in the bottom of the ninth inning on a one out single, ending the game by a score of 2-1. Ethan Salscheider worked the mound for the Raiders, pitching 8.1 innings, facing a total of 38 batters. Salscheider gave up 12 hits, two runs (one earned), one walk, and struck out four.

Game 2 at Lower Columbia:

The Raiders and Red Devils were scoreless until the top of the sixth inning when the Raiders ended the 0-0 tie with a bases-loaded walk to Ryan Stansell. Pierce then scored again in the top of the seventh inning on a single from Caden Stinson making the score 2-0 going into the bottom of the seventh. Lower Columbia managed to hit a three-run homerun in the bottom of the seventh inning to take the lead and the win. Ryan Gerlitz led the Raiders in hits with two, while Richie Reding, Caden Stinson, and Ryan Stansell each recorded one hit. Cooper Weygandt faced 28 batters in the game, and worked around the Red Devils lineup by only giving up four hits and three runs. Weygandt walked four batters and struck out three.
