Red Devils Sweep Raiders

The Raiders hosted visiting team, Lower Columbia College, on Sunday, April 30th in Puyallup, Washington. After two heartbreaking losses the day before, the Raiders had high hopes of pulling out two wins on the day. The Red Devils prevailed and took two more wins to sweep the series.

Game 3 at Pierce:

The Raiders lost to the Red Devils by a score of 7-3 in game three of the series. A late rally from the Raiders in the bottom of the seventh inning allowed the Raiders to score three runs, but the Raiders still managed to fall short of a win. Ryan Stansell and Kedren Kinzie each recorded two hits in the game, while Kaden Bertram, Bowen Stinson, and Ryan Gerlitz each tallied one hit. Drake Anderson took the mound for the Raiders and worked a total of five innings. Anderson gave up six hits, four runs, and one walk, while striking out two. Joby Johnson relieved Anderson in the sixth inning but was relieved by Evan Williamson after only seeing five batters. Williamson pitched for 1.2 innings, giving up one hit, one run, and one walk over eight batters. Tanner Hanson entered the game for one inning and faced six batters. Hanson was then relieved by Ashton Olson, who pitched for one inning, seeing a total of 4 batters.

Game 4 at Pierce:

The Raiders struck first with a run in the bottom of the first inning when Kedren Kinzie earned a bases-loaded walk, but the Red Devils quickly answered back with a run in the top of the second inning, tying the game 1-1. The Raiders scored their second and final run of the game in the top of the third inning when Kaden Bertram doubled, scoring Michael Moore. Lower Columbia continued to add to the score in the fifth, sixth, and seventh inning, earning the win with a score of 5-2 over the Raiders. Offensively, Michael Moore led the Raiders with two hits, including a double for extra bases. Ryan Gerlitz, Caden Stinson, Kaden Bertram, and Ayden Vega each had one hit. Kailen Kimata started on the hill for the Raiders, going a total of 4.2 innings. Kimata saw 21 batters and gave up five hits, two runs, and two walks. Lincoln Gamble entered the game in the fifth inning and faced five batters. Gamble gave up one hit, one run, one walk, and struck out two batters. Curran Jacobs relieved Gamble in the sixth inning and faced a total of seven batters, giving up one hit, two runs and two walks.

Sunday’s losses drop the Raiders overall record to 21-17 and 9-6 in West Region play. The Raiders will play against cross-town rival, Tacoma Community College on Saturday, May 6th at 12pm and 3pm in Puyallup. Pierce will then play Tacoma again on Sunday, May 7th at Tacoma CC at 1pm and 4pm.
