Raiders Defeat Rangers at Home

The Raiders hosted the Olympic Rangers for two games on Friday, April 14th where they beat the Rangers in game one with a score of 4-0 and 3-2 in game two. 

Game 1 at Pierce:
Ethan Salscheider started and finished on the mound for the Raiders, throwing a complete game of nine innings. Salscheider worked around the Olympic lineup, facing 34 batters throughout the matchup, by only giving up six hits and three free-passes. Ethan gave up zero runs and struck out seven.
Offensively, the Raiders tallied six hits, including one in-the-park homerun in the bottom of the sixth inning from sophomore infielder, Garrett Smith. Smith finished the game with two hits, one run, and one RBI. Michael Moore drove in two RBI’s, two hits, one stolen base, and one walk in the game. Ayden Vega added one more RBI in the bottom of the eighth for Pierce on a single, scoring Ashton Olson. With a final score of 4-0 the Raiders overall record advanced to 15-13 and 3-2 in West Region play.

Game 2 at Pierce:
Cooper Weygandt added another win to his record in game two for the Raiders, pitching all eight innings. Cooper faced 31 batters and only allowed four hits, two earned runs, and zero walks. Additionally, Weygandt struck out five batters in the game.
The Raiders capitalized on an error in the bottom of the third inning, scoring their first run of the game, making the score 2-1. Again in the third inning, Garrett Smith hit a sacrifice fly to left field, driving in the second run for the Raiders and tying the game. Both teams remained scoreless until the bottom of the eighth inning when Kedren Kenzie ended the game in walk-off fashion, stepping to the plate and hitting a sacrifice fly to center field, scoring Caden Stinson who doubled earlier in the inning. The walk-off win advances the Raiders overall record to 16-13 and 4-2 in West Region play.
