Raiders Sweep Rangers

The Pierce Raiders brought their brooms to the four-game-series against West Region opponent, Olympic College. Pierce traveled to Bremerton, WA on Saturday, April 15th where they delivered two more losses to the Rangers, beating them in game one by a score of 12-2 (7 innings), and 7-1 in game two.

Game 3 at Olympic:
The Raiders weren’t finished yet with the Rangers as they kept their bats hot for games three and four. The Raiders defeated the Rangers in seven innings, delivering 12 runs and 10 hits in the game. Drake Anderson started his eighth game for the Raiders, throwing all seven innings, only giving up four hits over 28 batters. Anderson allowed two runs, both earned, as well as one walk, and striking out three.
While the Rangers struck first in the bottom of the second inning, Garrett Smith put the Raiders on the scoreboard in the top of the third inning when he hit a three-run homerun over the left field fence, his second homerun of the series. The Raiders continued to add on the runs when they scored three more in the top of the fourth inning from Ryan Gerlitz (1 RBI) and Caden Stinson (2 RBI). In the sixth inning the Raiders added three more runs, including two runs from a homerun off the bat of Caden Stinson, and one RBI from a Michael Moore sacrifice fly. Pierce added their remaining three runs in the seventh inning off a single from Joe Scheffler (2 RBI) and a groundout from Gerlitz scored one more run, stretching the score 12-2. The Raiders advanced their overall record to 17-13 and 5-2 in West Region play.

Game 4 at Olympic:
In game four, the Raiders knocked around eleven hits and scored seven runs, forcing Olympic to change pitchers three different times. Pierce wasted no time by putting up three runs in the top of the first inning. Michael Moore drove in a run on a triple to right field, and scored on a ground ball hit by Caden Stinson. Kedren Kinzie added the last RBI of the inning for the Raiders after he reached first base on an error by the shortstop. Michael Moore added another RBI in the second inning to make the score 4-0. In the top of the third Steven Moore drove in his first RBI of the game and scored on a single from Joe Scheffler. Ryan Gerlitz drove in the last run for the Raiders in the third inning on a single to second base. The Raiders ended the game with a total of 12 stolen bases (Ryan Gerlitz (2), Caden Stinson, Garrett Smith, Kaden Bertram (3), Ayden Vega (2), Steven Moore, Joe Scheffler (2)), two doubles (Michael Moore, Steven Moore), and one triple (Michael Moore). Kailen Kimata controlled the mound for the Raiders, pitching all seven innings. Kimata faced 29 batters, giving up six hits and one run. Additionally, Kailen struck out seven and only walked one batter. The Raiders overall record advanced to 18-13 and 6-2 in West Region play.
