Titans Take Two from Raiders

Pierce College hosted cross-town-rival, Tacoma CC at home on Saturday, May 6th. In game one, the Raiders and Titans were both scoreless until Tacoma broke open the flood gates and scored six runs in the top of the sixth inning. Pierce was unable to respond, losing game one with a score of 6-0.

The Titans held the Raiders to just three hits in the game, two coming off the bat of sophomore Ryan Stansell, and one from freshman Carson Kawaguchi. Ethan Salscheider earned his 11th start on the season, lasting 5 innings for the Raiders. Salscheider gave up seven hits, six runs (five earned), one walk, and struck out three before being relieved by Joby Johnson in the sixth inning. Johnson ended the rally for the Titans, retiring all three batters he faced. Tanner Hanson finished the game for the Raiders, pitching the remainaing three innings, only giving up two hits and striking out one.

The Raiders had another strong start in game two, keeping a scoreless game up until the fifth inning when the Titans scored three runs and another run in the sixth inning. The Raiders lost game two by a score of 4-0.

Garrett Smith led the Raiders on offense with two hits in the game. Joe Scheffler and Ryan Stansell each added one hit for the Raiders. Cooper Weygandt worked the mound for the Raiders, pitching a total of 4.2 innings before being relieved by Evan Williamson with two outs in the fifth inning. Weygandt faced 26 batters in the game, striking out five and giving up eight hits, three runs and one walk. Williamson pitched the remainder of the game, earning 2.1 innings. Evan struck out on in his appearance, while giving up one hit, one run, and zero walks.
