Raiders Split with Penguins at Home

The Pierce Raiders opened up the day with a Field Dedication ceremony prior to the start of the West Region matchup against the visiting Clark College Penguins. The Raiders defeated the Penguins in game one by a score of 7-4, but dropped game two by a score of 7-0.

In game one, the Raiders scored early with five runs in the bottom of the first inning, and added two more insurance runs in the bottom of the fifth inning. Carson Kawaguchi doubled in his first at bat of the game, his first of three hits. Joe Scheffler also tallied three hits for the Raiders, including a double for extra bases. Ayden Vega and Kadin Kingsbury each had two hits, followed by Mason Bowden, Trent Lowe, Cameron Hale, and Michael Moore who had one hit apiece.

Kyle Larsen worked the mound for the Raiders, facing 33 batters in his eight innings of work. Larsen struck out six in his appearance, and was relieved by Jackson Burtis who earned his fourth save of the season. Burtis saw three batters and struck out two.

In game two, the Penguins held the Raiders to just five hits in the game, off the bat of Trent Lowe, Cameron Hale, Kadin Kingsbury, Michael Moore, and Joe Scheffler.

Andrew Moberly started on the mound for the Raiders, pitching four innings before Kaiden Kimata entered the game for the final three innings. Moberly struck out three, while Kimata struck out two.

The Raiders were expected to take on Clark College in Vancouver on Sunday, April 28th, but a last-minute medical emergency had postponed the games to a later date.
