Raiders Defeat Chokers in West Region Opener

The Pierce Raiders defeated the Grays Harbor Chokers on day one of the two-day series, starting off their West Region record 2-0.
In game one, the Raiders outscored the Chokers by a score of 7-4, scoring their first two runs in the top of the 1st inning off the bat of Michael Moore with a single to right field, driving in Mason Bowden who was walked earlier in the inning. Braeden Fagnant then lined out to centerfield, scoring Moore for the second run of the inning. The Raiders struck again in the top of the third inning when Cameron Hale reached first base on an error by the second baseman, scoring Kedren Kinzie and Michael Moore on the play. The Raiders continued to add to the lead in the fourth inning when Mason Bowden singled to centerfield and advanced to third base on a single to right field from Michael Moore. With two runners on, Kedren Kinzie added another RBI, driving in Bowden with a single to right field. In the top of the 6th inning, Fagnant homered, bringing in the two final runs for the Raiders. Kyle Larsen took control of the mound, going 8 innings and earning his first West Region win on the season. Larsen faced 34 batters, giving up 11 hits, 4 runs, zero walks and striking out three. Isaisa Mojica earned the save, his second of the season. Mojica faced three batters, striking out one.

In game two, the Raiders offense was silenced until the top of the eighth inning when they were able to tack on eight runs, bringing the final score to 9-1.The Raiders scored first in the top of the third inning as Michael Moore flied out to right field, scoring Mason Bowden from third base. The Chokers answered back in the bottom of the third, evening the score to 1-1. Both teams were blanked until the Raiders rallied in the top of the eighth inning, scoring eight runs. Joe Scheffler started off the eighth innings with a single, then advanced to second base as Kyle Larson walked. Kadin Kingsbury earned his free ticket to first base after being hit by a pitch, advancing Scheffler to to third and Larson to second. With the bases loaded, Ashton Olson was hit by a pitch, moving all runners forward and scoring Scheffler. The Chokers opted for a pitching change with one out and the bases loaded, but did not find any relief, as Mason Bowden was also hit by a pitch, scoring Larson. Michael Moore then reached first base on an error by right field, earning an RBI when Kingsbury crossed home plate. Kedren Kinzie then cleared the bases for the Raiders with a triple to right field. Marcel Jones added the final RBI for the Raiders on a single, scoring Kinzie from third base. Andrew Moberly went the distance on the mound, pitching all eight innings. Moberly saw 34 batters, only giving up six hits, one run, two walks, and striking out five batters.
