Raiders Sweep Chokers

On day two, the Raiders ended the third game in similar fashion as the day before, scoring 10 runs in the bottom of the 8th inning, ending the game with a score of 15-5.

The Raiders struck early with another Kinzie triple in the bottom of the first inning, driving in Michael Moore who doubled just before Kinzie entered the batters box. In the bottom of the second inning the Raiders added three more runs. Ashton Olson started off the inning with a walk, followed by another walk to Kyle Larson. Kadin Kingsbury singled, advancing each runner a base and loading the bases for Ayden Vega. Vega singled, bringing in Olson, followed by a sacrifice fly to centerfield from Mason Bowden, scoring Larson. Michael Moore followed suit with another sacrifice fly to center field, scoring Kingsbury for the final run of the inning and making the score 4-0. The Chokers managed to chip away at the Raiders lead, scoring a run in the top of the third, fifth, and seventh inning. The Raiders added one more run in the bottom of the seventh, as Joe Scheffler hit a sacrifice fly to right field scoring Moore from third base. The Chokers managed to tie the game, scoring two more runs in the top of the eighth inning making the score 5-5. The Raiders showed no mercy in the bottom of the eighth, as they managed to dance around the base path, scoring 10 runs on only two hits. Kadin Kingsbury started off the inning with a walk and then advanced to second base as Ayden Vega walked. Mason Bowden was then hit by a pitch, loading the bases for Michael Moore. Moore earned an RBI after being hit by a pitch, keeping the bases loaded for Kedren Kinzie. Kinzie continued to dominate at the plate, hitting another double and driving in two more runs. Kedren stole third base as Trevor Lowe walked, and then scored on a fielders choice hit by Joe Scheffler. The Raiders ended up again with the bases loaded as Ashton Olson and Cameron Hale each earned a walk. Kadin Kingsbury was hit by a pitch, keeping the bases loaded and scoring Scheffler. Ayden Vega then singled, bringing in another run for the Raiders. Mason Bowden then flied out to centerfield, scoring Cameron Hale. The Raiders scored their final two runs, and ended the game by a 10-run-rule when Kedren Kinzie reached first base on an error by the shortstop, scoring Kingsbury and Vega. Drake Anderson earned his second win of the season, going seven innings on the mound. In the 32 batters faced, Anderson allowed three runs, and 10 hits, while only walking two and striking out four.

The Raiders sealed the sweep with a 7-1 win in game four. In the bottom of the second inning the Raiders put up four runs on the scoreboard off of four hits. Joe Scheffler started off the inning with a single, followed by a single for Kadin Kingsbury, putting two runners on base for Cameron Hale. Hale doubled, driving in both runners for the Raiders. Ashton Olson each found themselves on base after both being hit by a pitch, loading the bases for sophomore outfielder, Michael Moore. Moore flied out to left field, bringing in Olson on the sacrifice fly. Kedren Kinzie then doubled, bringing in the final two runs of the inning. The Raiders scored one run in the bottom of the third inning off the bat of Ashton Olson, and two more runs in the bottom of the fourth inning on a single from each Braeden Fagnant and Joe Scheffler, putting the score at 7-0 in the bottom of the fourth. The Chokers managed to piece together one run in the top of the fifth inning, moving the score to 7-1, but the Raiders defense silenced the Chokers for the remainder of the game. Tyler McGowan earned his second win of the season, pitching all seven innings. McGowan’s held the Chokers to just two hits, and one run, with only two walks and six strikeouts in 27 batters faced.
