Raiders Drop Two Against Bulldogs

The Bellevue Bulldogs defeated the Pierce Raiders on Thursday evening, but not without a fight. Despite losing both games, the Raiders continued to challenge the Bulldogs throughout the 14 innings of play, losing game one with a score of 9-3 and game two with a score of 14-6. Thursday’s losses drop the Raiders overall season record to 6-18 and 4-11 in North Region play.

The Raiders offense was led by sophomore and Athlete of the Week, Baylee Blau, who had two hits in the game. Blau also scored once and drove in one run. Hollie Haataia, Olivia Watts, Kendall Lawson, Grace Spencer each recorded one hit for the game. Additionally, Savannah Manley hit her first homerun of the season on shot over the left field fence, bringing in two runs. Cydney Jarvis worked the mound for the Raiders, putting in seven innings of work. Jarvis gave up 12 hits, nine runs (seven earned), four walks, and struck out one.

The Raiders led the Bulldogs going into the top of the third inning and continued to answer back to the Bulldogs runs in the remaining innings, but a tough seventh inning from Bellevue sealed the deal for the Bulldogs. The Raiders knocked around 11 hits in the game, including three hits for extra bases. Savannah Manley hit a double, Grace Spencer hit a triple, and Makayla Stockman hit her fourth homerun of the season. Baylee Blau, Elena Castanon, Savannah Manley, and Cydney Jarvis each had two hits in the game, while Kendall Lawson, Grace Spencer, and Makayla Stockman each had one hit. Stockman started on the mound for the Raiders, going a total of three innings. Makayla gave up 12 hits, nine runs, one walk, and struck out two. Elena Castanon relieved Stockman in the fourth inning and gave up eight hits, five runs (three earned), and one walk.

The Raiders will head to Everett, WA on Saturday, May 6th to take on the Trojans for their first meeting this season. Game time is scheduled for 12pm and 2pm.
