Rangers Take Down Raiders

The Olympic Rangers defeated the Pierce Raiders in both games on Wednesday, April 26th. The Raiders lost the first game with a score of 10-9 and let the second game get away from then with a score of 19-5. Wednesday’s losses drop the Raiders overall record to 4-17 and 2-10 in North Region play.

The Raiders made a major comeback in the bottom of the seventh inning as they clawed their way back from an eight-run deficit. Pierce scored six runs in the bottom of the seventh but were unable to keep the momentum going to defeat the Rangers. The Raiders knocked around 12 hits in the game, with Grace Spencer, Baylee Blau, and Savannah Manley each tallying two hits. Elena Castanon, Makayla Stockman, Vivian Watts, Kendall Lawson, Olivia Watts, and Cydney Jarvis each added one hit for the Raiders. Spencer, Manley, and Stockman each drove in two runs, while Blau and O. Watts each added an RBI as well. Cydney Jarvis started on the mound for the Raiders and worked a total of 5 innings. Jarvis faced 29 batters, giving up 11 hits, 10 runs (6 earned), one walk, and struck out 5. Makayla Stockman relieved Jarvis in the sixth inning and put in two solid innings of work, giving up only two hits and striking out three.

In game two, the Raiders put up a total of five runs over the first three innings, but fell into trouble on defense as the Rangers added up 19 runs by the end of the seventh inning. Baylee Blau led the Raiders on offence with three hits, including two for extra bases on a double and a homerun. Kendall Lawson drove in two runs, tallied two hits, and stole one base. Sidnye Burger added two hits, one for extra bases (2B), and Grace Spencer, Olivia Watts, Vivian Watts, and Cydney Jarvis each had one hit in the game. Vivian Watts got the start for the Raiders, only lasting two innings, as the Rangers managed seven hits, eight runs (7 earned) and three walks. Makayla Stockman went back to the mound in relief in the third inning for a total of 4.1 innings, giving up 10 hits, 9 runs (5 earned), two walks, and striking out two. Elena Castanon took over to Stockman in the seventh inning giving up three hits, two runs (0 earned), and striking out one.

The Raiders will take on Highline College in Des Moines, WA on Tuesday, May 2nd at 2pm and 4pm.
