Douglas Takes Two from Raiders

The Pierce Raiders hosted the Douglas Royal on Sunday, March 17th for their first home games of the season. The Raiders fell to the Royals in game one by a score if 11-2 and again in game two by a score of 13-2.

In game one the Raiders were held to only five hits in the game with Mollee Raether, Samantha Tungsvik, Sidnye Burger, each had one hit, while Abigail Lindenmuth had two hits. Going into the top of the fifth inning the Raiders kept a close game against the Royals, only trailing by three runs, however, a big fifth inning, scoring five runs, sealed the deal and the game for Douglas.

Vivian Watts started in the circle for the Raiders, pitching four innings and striking out one. Abigail Lindenmuth finished the final inning, facing nine batters and striking out one.

In game two the Raiders fell behind by two runs in the first inning, but answered back with one run to cut the Royal lead in half after Elyssa Barnett drew a bases-loaded walk. The Royal continued to tack on runs in the 2nd, 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th inning, to bring the final score to 13-2.

The Raiders were able to knock around nine hits in the game, with Madison Septon led the Raiders with two hits in game two, followed by Mollee Raether, Samantha Tungsvik, Vivian Watts, Sidnye Burger, Abigail Lindenmuth, Hana Reynolds, and Kalia Kate who each had one hit.

Tungsvik pitched a complete game for the Raiders, facing 43 batters and striking out three.
