The Pierce Raiders softball team closed out their home schedule in style, sweeping the Shoreline Dolphins in a doubleheader on Sophomore Day. With a 7-2 win in game one and an 11-3 victory in game two, the Raiders capped their final home stand of the season with dominant performances on both sides of the ball.
Before the first pitch, Pierce honored their five sophomores—Samantha Tungsvik, Ava Lewis, Madison Septon, Hailie Mathews, and Taylor Smith—for their commitment, leadership, and contributions to the program.
In game one, the Raiders collected 14 hits, led by Emma Loera and Samantha Tungsvik, who each had three hits—Loera with a double and Tungsvik with two doubles. Nola Reily added two hits, while Lewis, Cervantes-Macias, Lopez, Quitugua, Septon, and Mathews each chipped in one. Tungsvik also shined in the circle, throwing a complete game with six strikeouts, giving up just two runs and no walks.
Game two saw the Raiders’ bats stay hot as they rolled to an 11-3 run-rule win in five innings. Karen Cervantes- Macias pitched the entire game, striking out six and allowing just three runs. Taylor Smith, Noelani Souza, and Tungsvik each recorded two hits, and Reily, Lopez, Lewis, Septon, and Mathews all added one apiece.
The sweep was a fitting send-off for the Raiders’ sophomores and a strong close to their home season.
