Raiders Show Resilience in Challenging Preseason
Pierce College Raiders Women's Basketball: Preseason Recap
The Women’s basketball team entered the 2024-2025 season with a challenging preseason campaign, finishing with a record of 0-16. Despite the tough results, there were standout performances from key players, notably sophomore guard Lanissa Amacher and freshman forward Adhau Chol, who both made significant impacts on both ends of the floor.
Lanissa Amacher emerged as one of the team’s most consistent offensive threats. She finished the preseason ranked 34th in the NWAC with 187 total points, averaging over 11 points per game. Her scoring prowess was complemented by her solid defensive contributions, as she also ranked 18th in defensive rebounds with 69 on the season. Amacher's free throw shooting was another bright spot, as she finished 24th in the NWAC with a free throw percentage of 72.9%, demonstrating her ability to capitalize on opportunities at the line.
On the defensive side, Adhau Chol made a major impact, establishing herself as one of the top shot-blockers in the region. She finished the preseason ranked 2nd in the NWAC with 27 blocks, showcasing her ability to protect the rim and alter opponents' shots. Chol was also a force on the boards, ranking 5th in offensive rebounds with 52 and 19th in total rebounds with 98. With 123 total points on the season, she was a key contributor on offense as well, giving the Raiders a dynamic presence in both the paint and on the boards.
While the team's 0-16 record shows the struggles of the season thus far, the individual performances of Amacher and Chol offer optimism for the future. Amacher’s all-around play and Chol’s dominance in the paint highlight the potential of this young team as they continue to grow and develop throughout the season.
As the Raiders continue to gain experience, the combination of Amacher’s leadership and Chol’s defensive prowess gives hope that the team can build on these individual performances and start turning their fortunes around in the coming games. Despite the lack of wins, the foundation is in place for a promising future as these two players continue to grow and lead the charge for Pierce College Women’s Basketball.
