Raiders Fall 3-1 to Lower Columbia in West Region Opener

The Pierce College women’s soccer team opened West Region play on the road Tuesday, falling 3-1 to the Lower Columbia Red Devils in Longview, WA.

After trailing 2-0, the Raiders responded in the second half when sophomore Olivia Jahn scored her first goal of the season in the 47th minute, finding the back of the net unassisted. Pierce continued to press forward but was unable to close the gap as Lower Columbia added a third goal to secure the win.

Ruby Pearson led the Raiders offensively with three shots on goal, while Jahn added two and freshman Grace Atkinson contributed one. Goalkeeper Rylee Kline had a busy afternoon in net, recording 15 saves to keep Pierce within striking distance throughout the contest.

The Raiders will look to bounce back in their next West Region matchup as they continue conference play.
