The Pierce College women’s soccer team secured its first win of the season Wednesday afternoon, defeating the Green River Gators 3-0 in West Region play. The victory improves the Raiders’ overall record to 1-5-2.
Elena Iniguez led the way offensively, scoring two unassisted goals in the 39th and 89th minutes to bookend the match. Freshman Jaelynn Fuentes netted her first career goal in the 52nd minute, finishing off a setup from sophomore Olivia Jahn to give Pierce a comfortable two-goal advantage.
The Raiders kept constant pressure on the Gators’ defense, tallying multiple shots on frame. Iniguez led the charge with four, followed by Fuentes (2), Marissa Linkem (2), Hali’a Maguadog (2), Jasmine Carrada (1), Kameryn Norton (1), Abigail Acuna (1), and Summer Farber (1).
Goalkeeper Rylee Kline anchored the defense, recording her first shutout of the season with two saves as the Raiders held Green River scoreless.
